Faith Releases

In this message, Faith Releases, we continue our Hall of Faith series by exploring Hebrews 11:11–13 and 17–19 through the life of Abraham and Sarah. Before Abraham ever released Isaac on Mount Moriah, he first received the promise of heaven. Sarah received strength to conceive. From one man “as good as dead” came descendants as countless as the stars. Grace was received before anything was surrendered.
This message shows us the powerful progression of faith: Receiving → Releasing. If we have received the grace of God and the promise of heaven, we can loosen our grip on the things of earth. Abraham’s life in Genesis reveals a pattern of surrender—releasing position, wealth, reputation, control, fleshly solutions, and even outcomes—long before he lifted the knife in Genesis 22. By the time he offered Isaac, surrender had already been practiced for decades.
Hebrews tells us Abraham “concluded that God was able to raise him up.” This was resurrection faith. He believed that what he placed in God’s hands would not ultimately be lost. Genesis 22 ultimately points us to Jesus—the beloved Son, the wood carried on His back, the Father who offered, and the resurrection that followed. What Abraham pictured, God fulfilled at the cross.
If you’re holding tightly to something—control, fear, money, reputation, a dream, a relationship—this message is for you. What you refuse to release can become your prison. What you release to Jesus becomes the platform for resurrection power. Faith receives grace, and faith releases earth in light of heaven.
