FATHERING
What good is winning everywhere else if you neglect the family God entrusted to you?
David conquered armies, built a kingdom, and wrote worship songs—but inside his own home, he failed to confront sin. When Amnon violated Tamar, David became angry. But anger alone did not protect his daughter, correct his son, or heal his family. Unaddressed sin grew into bitterness, murder, and rebellion.
In 2 Samuel 13–14 and Psalm 127, we confront the responsibility and blessing of fatherhood. Our culture offers endless distractions and instant gratification, but raising children requires sacrifice, presence, courage, and love. Your public success cannot compensate for neglecting your private responsibility.
“Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.” Children are a gift from God—arrows entrusted to us to prepare for the generation ahead. We are called to love them, teach them, correct them, and help them follow Jesus for themselves.
You have not been a perfect father. Neither was David. But your past failures do not excuse abandoning your responsibility today. Repent. Receive correction. Put away selfish distractions. Take responsibility for your home.
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made a way for sinful men to come to the perfect Father. Receive His love, forgiveness, and discipline—and let Him teach you how to father.
Men are FATHERS—they accept responsibility, stay present, protect their children, and train the next generation to follow Jesus.
