COMPASSIONATE
What does a godly man do when he finally has strength, influence, or resources?
He uses them to help someone who cannot repay him. In 2 Samuel 9, David searches for Mephibosheth—a broken, fearful man from Saul’s family—and brings him to the king’s table. David restores him, provides for him, and welcomes him like a son. It is a powerful picture of the Gospel.
We were helpless, sinful, and unable to earn a place at God’s table. Yet King Jesus came looking for us. He carried our sin, carried the cross, and brought us near by His blood. Real compassion does more than feel bad.
Men are COMPASSIONATE—they let the kindness of Christ move them to selfless action.
