REPENTANT
What happens when a man stops going to war against sin?
David killed Goliath, conquered armies, and became king—but when kings were supposed to go to war, David stayed home. One look became lust. Lust became adultery. Adultery became deception. Deception became murder. Then Nathan confronted him: “You are the man!”
David finally stopped covering his sin and said, “I have sinned against the LORD.” Psalm 51 records the prayer of a broken and REPENTANT man: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
True repentance is more than feeling guilty. It means turning from sin and turning back to God. And on the other side of repentance are times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
Every man is in a spiritual battle. Never become comfortable with sin. Never stop fighting. When you fall—confess it, turn from it, run to Jesus, and get back in the war. Jesus is the spotless Lamb who carried our sin to the cross. We cannot wash ourselves clean. Only by His blood.
Men are REPENTANT—they confess their sin, quickly turn back to God, and fight the spiritual battle in His strength.
